Orbita is Tiny Planet's flagship camper van: a premium AWD adventure van built in Sacramento, California on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 with a 170″ wheelbase. It combines a residential kitchen, an enclosed indoor shower, 12V air conditioning and off-grid lithium power. Orbita sleeps 3, or 4 with a swivel-to-bed seat, and up to 8 in the Max package. It starts at $225,000 and was tested on a 25,000-mile round-the-world expedition.
Orbita sleeps 3, or 4 with the optional swivel-to-bed seat behind the driver, which turns into a 30″ single bed. The dinette seats up to 7 people, and its table lowers to form a California king-size bed with a 4″ two-layer memory foam mattress. Orbita Max adds a Lippert motorized lift bed and a pop-up rooftop tent, so the van sleeps up to 8.
Yes. Orbita has a fully enclosed indoor shower with a retractable sliding door, a flat floor with four drains, stone veneer walls and a high-pressure shower head, plus a hot and cold outdoor shower. The toilet is a Tiny by Separett waterless toilet on a sliding shelf, so it stays out of the way while you shower. Laveo and Clesana toilets are available as upgrades.
Orbita is one of the off-grid vans Tiny Planet builds for travel without hookups or a generator. Essential has a 460Ah LiFePO4 battery by EPOCH, made in the USA (6 kWh). Expedition and Max have a 920Ah battery (12 kWh), good for about 5 to 7 days off-grid, and a 1380Ah battery (18 kWh) is available for about 8 to 10 days. Solar and alternator charging recharge the bank, and the 12V air conditioner runs from it. Water capacity is 35 gallons fresh and 20 gallons grey.
Orbita is built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 with a 170″ wheelbase, the longer of the two chassis we use for our vans (Pulsar uses 144″). It has all-wheel drive (AWD), so all four wheels are driven. If you are looking for a 4x4 van for gravel, sand, mud and snow, this is the system that provides that traction. The engine is a 2.0L turbo diesel (211 hp, 332 lb-ft) with a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic. Essential has upgraded suspension, and Expedition and Max add Owl & Falcon 3.0 suspension, Black Rhino 17″ wheels and BFGoodrich KO3 tires. Orbita has driven through the United States, Europe, Russia, Mongolia and China.
Yes. Our founders lived in Orbita full-time for six months with their 18-month-old daughter, covering 25,000 miles across three continents. The 65″ galley has an acrylic stone countertop, an induction cooktop, a 12V fridge and an undermount sink. A dishwasher and a GE microwave, convection oven and air fryer are available as options. Add an enclosed shower, 12V air conditioning and Starlink-ready wiring for remote work (the Starlink Mini is not included). Expedition and Max add hydronic heating, heated floors and winter-ready plumbing.
Orbita starts at $225,000 for Essential, $286,000 for Expedition and $324,000 for Max. The price includes the 170″ AWD Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the full conversion. Essential covers the 460Ah lithium battery, 600W solar with a Victron system, 12V rooftop air conditioning, a Webasto diesel air heater, a bamboo interior, the enclosed shower and the 65″ kitchen. Expedition adds the 920Ah battery, hydronic heating, winter-ready plumbing, Home Assistant smart control and the off-road package. Options and the Starlink Mini cost extra. Yes. Every Orbita is built to order, so you can customize it: choose the Essential, Expedition or Max package, add options and pick one of two interior finishes, Bourbon or Smoke. Fully custom interiors are not offered. To build your Orbita, start with the online configurator (2 to 3 minutes), talk it through on a no-obligation 30-minute call, then reserve your build slot with a $3,000 deposit that is refundable within 30 days. Design details are finalized after the deposit, and once you approve them, the build takes 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the features you choose.
